Children arriving or picked up more than 15 minutes outside of preschool class time, or period time will be charged a daycare fee for that period. Children picked up after 6:00PM will be charged an overtime fee of $3.00 for five minutes. For irregular part time hrs, space is reserved only for fees paid in advance. Children enrolled in preschool may use the daycare on a space available basis without paying another registration fee.
Tuition is due the first of the month, daycare/ latchkey fees, by the end of the week care is provided. There is a $10 late fee for all fees collected more than 10 days late. There are no refunds on tuition for months the child attends. Refunds are available for daycare/Latchkey cancellations giving us more than 24 hours notice.
Financial aid is available, ask the administrator for an application Checks should be made payable to Rainbow Haven Christian Preschool, or RHCP. All fees should be dropped in the locked fee box next to the front bulletin board. Envelopes and pens for cash payments are available at the parent desk. Receipts will be written, and yearly totals are available upon request. Our tax free ID # is 31-441-7391.

Q: Do you serve meals and snacks?
A: For Preschool and Daycare, there will be a snack time during class each day. For Latchkey, it will be after school. We will serve foods from at least two food groups. Juice served will be 100% fruit juice. Mill must be 2% or more. Substitutes from the same food groups as suggested snacks are acceptable. To control expenses, parents are asked to provide nutritious snacks for the children. Each month you will receive a snack calendar. It will show when it is your child's turn to bring in a snack for the class, and a menu for the suggested snack for that day, and the number of children to provide snack for. Occasionally, you may be asked to provide ingredients, which will allow the children to prepare their own snack while gaining experience measuring, mixing, and seeing various ways foods can be prepared. We will stress nutrition, social skills, and cleanliness during this time. We will not administer food supplements.
Latchkey and Daycare students in attendance between 11:00-1:30 inclusively are required to have a meal. This will be served between 12:00-12:30 and will be provided by the parent. Meals must contain 1/3 the daily allowance of your child's recommended dietary intake, including at a minimum, one food from the meat/meat-equivalent group, the bread/bread-alternative group, the milk group, and two foods from the fruit/vegetable group. Meals can be refrigerated here and we can microwave portions where a microwavqble container is provided, if necessary. Meals sent not including the state required amounts or nutrition as listed on the form provided at the end of this handbook, will be supplemented by our staff.
While not required, Daycare and Latchkey children sent with a parent provided breakfast snack will be provided with an opportunity to eat it between 7:45and 8:15.
In recent years there has been a dramatic increase in children with life threatening food allergies. If your child has this kind of allergy, we ask that you, the parent provide his/her daily snack. (See Administrator for more information.) We will notify the rest of classroom parents so in case of parties, (especially Valentine's day) they may include your child without a dangerous snack. We will also tell children not to open candy treats until after school so parents may double check them. If you have specific questions or desires, ask the administrator.
Children having birthdays will be allowed to bring cake or goodies in addition to the regularly scheduled snack, but we will not serve it until after the regular snack.

Q: Are you open during snowdays?
A: RHCP follows the Newark City Schools policy during inclement weather. Listen to the radio or TV and if they are closed, so are we. Any other unscheduled closings, we will notify you by phone. We do not generally make up snow days unless we miss several in a row. If at any time you are uncomfortable with driving conditions feel free to stay home. Preschool involves a lot of repetition and safety is always more important than attendance.
The Daycare and Latchkey will also be open on snow days announced before 6:00 AM, or unless the snow emergency prohibits travel except to and from work, or emergency vehicles (level three or four).
The driveway and south hill parking lot between the church and the woods is very hazardous in icy weather. We try to plow and salt the playground lot, the street side lot, and the entranceway lot. Do not use the south hill lot during slippery weather. On very bad days, we open the front door to the church and you can come in that way and down the stairs. Please do not try to use the south hill drive or lot in bad weather.
In the event of a gas problem, or extended power or heat outage, we will also notify you and close. In a extreme emergencies, children can be picked up at Montesori.
